Time flies in Y6!!!!!

We have got a little behind with our blog with being so busy!! Since our last post, we have found out lots more about Charles Darwin and his work on evolution, created some brilliant collages based on the painting ‘Northern River Scene’ by LS Lowry, finished our brilliant class book, ‘Who Let the Gods Out?’ (and started the next one in the series), come dressed in our PJs for World Book Day, deepened our knowledge about working Victorian children, continued to perfect our 12x tables, been on a visit to the National Mining Museum (which was a cracker!), written a letter in role from Lord Shaftesbury to Queen Victoria and had a Science enrichment today with Miss Ward investigating the effects different wire lengths have on components in a circuit. Pheweee!!!

  1. I agree we have been very busy this week and I cant believe it’s almost over, our trip to the British mining museum was amazing too and coming to school in our PJs was kinda strange but fun. I also loved our science it was so interesting and fun.

  2. I really enjoyed looking at LS lowry and enjoyed doing a collage and I also liked pj day. I really enjoyed who let the gods out it was really funny. I also enjoyed science day with the circuits and some times I go on hit the button 12 times table and i can do them a lot better now πŸ™‚

  3. Heyyyyyy Mrs Larkin, who let the gods out was so GOOD! The trip was SO SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD!!!!!! I enjoyed it so much Mrs Larkin wish we could go there again and get coal or whatever it was on our faces it was so funny! My mom said i looked like a mucky pup! The man said our school was a credit because we were so good at answering questions and my group even got a class credit for being good, he said we were one of the best schools that went there!

    1. Wait till we go on our summer term trips – you’ll love them too! That’s good to hear about what the guide said at the museum πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Mrs Larkin, our trip on Monday was sooo good and my Auntie said I look like a mucky pup because of the coal. The man said our school were a credit because we were soo good at answering the questions. We even got a class credit. Yesterday was a fabulous science day and we all loved it so much.

    1. πŸ˜† I was really proud of Y6 on the trip and the man was right – you were all a credit to the school! πŸ™‚

  5. Hi mrs Larkin being in year 6 is so fun I don’t want to leave to go up to portland I will miss you so much but glad there’s still a couple more months to stay here with you. I love all the things we do here and can’t wait for the rest of the trips we go on during the summer. The class book was so fun and I love beyond the odyssey lots. I’ve only got 11 chapters left to read and then will have to find the fourth one and read that but nearly finished the whole series.

    1. There’s plenty more fun times to come!! I’ve got the final book in the series; it’s called ‘Against All Gods’. It’s on my bedside table waiting to be read so I’ll have to get my skates on so you can be the first to borrow it πŸ˜‰

  6. Hi Mrs Larkin, I have really enjoyed the last 2 weeks!!! My favourite part was the mining museum trip and the ‘Who let the Gods out’ book. At first, I was scared of small spaces, but after the trip, I’m not that scared!!!!

    1. That’s good to know! On the next trips, it will be the opposite: lots of wide open spaces when we go into Derbyshire! I love reading our class book together and seeing you all laugh at the funny bits πŸ˜†

  7. I really enjoyed the coal mining museum because the people who taught us were really well experienced and knew what they were telling us but taught us in a fun way !

  8. We enjoyed when we went to the trip because we went in the underground tour some people got to put coal on them and we got to look at the family down in the mines.

  9. HI MRS LARKIN, I enjoyed our trip on Monday the best part was when we went down the mines and also hearing about what life was like down in the pit when you were only five! I think everyone who is alive today is SO lucky but hearing Sally tell us what it was like I could just imagine how painful it was being a thruster and a hurrier- thrusters pulled the carts and Hurriers pushed the cart.

  10. I enjoyed doing circuits with miss ward. I also enjoyed our trip but it was a shame we didn’t have enough time to do what the other group did!

    1. Hi Max – good to see you on the blog πŸ™‚ I’m glad you enjoyed the science and the trip. I wish we had time to rub the coal dust on too!

  11. Hi Mrs Larkin me and Elisha really miss Priory we want to come back. We are missing all of you at Priory. Hope you are all having fun in year 6. Mrs Larkin is the best!
