There are 164 animals in the pet shop and these animals are purchased: 53 dogs, 21 cats and 31 mice. How many animals are left? If 12 people buy all the animals, how many would they get?

there would be 105 left and the 12 people would get 4 with 11 left over

You’ve got the first part right…

There would be 59 animals left.

They would have 13 each and the remaining 8 would be sent to children around Worksop because 12 into 1 is 0 , and 12 into 16 is 1 with 4 left over and 12 into 44 is 3 with 8 remaining.

You’re right and I love your explanation!

59 animals left and 12 divided by 12=4 animals is what they both get

You got the first part right…

There would be 269 animals because 164+53=217+21=238+31=269 then divide it by 12=23animals per person

I’m afraid that’s not right, Mckenzie…

it would be 13 and 8 left

You’re right 🙂

The first bit of the question is 59 animals left. Then next they can get 13 animals each I think and I think there will be 8 left

You’re right!

Mrs larkin I have left my reading record at school can I put what I’ve read in tomorrow and are we doing house team maths? I’ve had so much fun I hope every one else has too. I am feeling allot better now I have had a rest.

Don’t worry, we’ll sort it it the morning. I don’t think there will be time for House Team maths unfortunately 😥 Glad you’re feeling better 🙂
