  1. Vikings only used a few ships on their first raids. They did the odd sneaky attack on small places. They knew they would not have to fight a big English army force because they were too busy fighting bigger armies to fight the Vikings. The English didn’t have a navy so it was easy to attack them from the beach.

  2. On January the first, the longships arrived and the Vikings attacked. They burned buildings, stole treasures, murdered Monks, and terrified everyone. Some Christian Church leaders said the Vikings were sent by God, to punish people in England for doing wrong.

    1. Thanks for starting us off Amelia – these are great facts: I’ll put you two signatures on our chart. Did you manage to find out what year the Vikings began raiding?

  3. They started to invade in 1066AD. My book bag is getting very heavy I have such a lot of thing in it so I thought I would ask are we allowed to bring bags for our books?πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

    1. Hi Emma, thanks for blogging πŸ™‚ That was an important date during the Viking period but it wasn’t when they started invading – could you have another look to check why it’s significant?
What is it that’s making your bag so heavy? The problem with big bags is that they don’t fit into our boxes. Could we have a think together tomorrow and we’ll see if we can find another solution? πŸ™‚

    1. Yes, they did. Do you know whereabouts that is? Why was it a special place? I’ll put your signatures on in the morning for your research
