Have you ever sent a letter?

This week in our English learning, we are looking at letters (not the ones in the alphabet!) but the ones you would send in the post.

I have some questions that I think some of you could answer:

  • Why do people send letters?
  • What is in a letter?
  • Have you ever sent a letter and why did you send it?

We are still using hit the button for work on our 3x tables so try playing on this at home.

Our Learn Its are:

1 x 4 = 4

2 x 4 = 8

3 x 4 =12

  1. We send lettters when its someone birthday. Also when its christmas and a thank you letter. In a letter there is an adress.

    4 x 3 = 12
    5 x 4 = 20
    6 x 4 = 24

        1. I think that is a lovely touch that you always write a lot in them. I am sure the people who receive your cards love them.

  2. People send letters because they are to far away or they don`t have a phone to send messages.
A letter is a note and you put it in a envelope and send it in the post box from ruby.

yes i have sended a letter and i sended it because the person was to far away

    1. That is a great response and a great reason why people might send a letter.

Why didn’t you just ring them instead? Why did you send a letter?

  3. Hello Mr Anderson and Year 3,
Today I have posted a letter to a special friend of mine who has moved to a different country. We do speak to each other sometimes on the telephone or communicate on social media, but we both like to receive letters in the post. Sometimes we include a photograph as well.

      1. Hello Daisy
Yes, we have been friends since I was a little girl. We went to primary school together.

I am sure that your sister will love receiving a letter form you!

    1. They are great examples of when we might send a letter. I love that your brother sent Nello a letter; I bet Nello loved it!

  4. A letter that I sent recently was to someone who helped us a lot on one of our school trips. It’s nice to say thank you by a text or email but sometimes it feels a bit more special to receive a letter that someone has taken the time to write and post and I wanted the person to feel special because of the brilliant job they’d done for Priory 🙂

  5. In maths I loved learning about the shapes and I have had some fun now I am going to do some of the learnits
